2015 International Tournament
SATURDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON
The 7th International Lafayette Louisiana Petanque Tournament begins on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM on March 14, 2015 in Girard Park.
Petanque is a French lawn bowling game played on four hard pack courts constructed on the north end of Girard Park near the University of Louisiana’s Alumni House.
All skills levels are welcomed. All equipment is provided. Basic instruction on how to play is provided on the day of the event.
Two player teams are randomly paired with an opposing team using the Swiss elimination tournament system. Single players needing a partner will be paired with another player. Winners and consolation rounds will be organized. Each round is timed to last one hour. The four tops teams will be paired for quarter finals and semi-finals.

Louisiana Poboys sandwiches are on sale at the tournament for $6.00 plus a free Coca-Cola soft drink.
Trophies made of Louisiana Cypress will be provided along with prizes from Obut, a major manufacturer of petanque equipment.
Bernard Champay, a former national French petanque champion, will be attending. He will particiapte in classes and exhibitions.
SATURDAY NIGHT
The participants and their friends are invited to go a grand cajun meal at a local restaurant to be select on that day. After eating, the participants will be invited to go to hear some local music at a venue to be decided on the evening.

SUNDAY EVENTS
On Sunday (March 15, 2015), a picnic and open games will be held at the same place beginning at 10:00 AM. Bring your family and friends for a relaxing day in the park.
FAQs
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Children under the of 8 will not be allowed to play. Children from 8 to 15 are allowed to play with an adult as a team member. Young adults over than 15 can form teams within themselves or will be paired with a sponsoring adult. Single and mixed gender teams are welcomed.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
You can park on Girard Park Lane or in the Earl K. Long Parking Lot at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on the corner of St. Mary Street and Girard Park Circle.
