2014 Tournament

This year we will only have an adult tournament on Sunday. The Children’s tournament is being planned as part of Festival International, a music festival held in downtown Lafayette.

Petanque is a French outdoor game played with hand-sized chrome balls rolled on a crushed stone court.

The Sixth International Petanque Tournament of Lafayette, Louisiana scheduled in Girard Park, Lafayette, Louisiana on:

March 28: Friday Night 5:00 PM— Welcome to Visiting Players at the French Table at Johnston Street Java, a coffee house.

March 29: Saturday Afternoon 2:00 PM — Practice and Pick up Games at the Girard Park

March 29: Saturday Night 6:00 PM— Cajun Music and Food events at local restaurants and venues.

March 30: Sunday — Adult’s Tournament 9:00 AM until Sundown


Lafayette Louisiana, the heart of Cajun Country, in the north end of Girard Park on Girard Park Lane near the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Alumni House.

• La Boule Cadienne de Lafayette, a local petanque club, member of the Federation Petanque USA

•Mayor President Joey Durel – presentations of official certificates to children winners on Saturday

•Bernard Champey, former world champion, demonstrations and presentations of trophies to adults on Sunday

In the past we have had participation from:

•European Players from France and Belgium
We are expecting a team from Numur, Beligium.

•Louisiana Petanque players from Lafayette, Zachary, Baton Rouge, and Thibodaux

•American Players from Seattle, Washington, Austin and San Antonio, Texas, New York and others
