2021 Tournament Details
The 12th Annual La Boule Cadienne de Lafayette International Pétanque Tournament will take place October 16 & 17, 2021 in Girard Park, in Lafayette. Former World Champion Bernard Champey will attend the tournament. Jean-Yves Perronnet, National Technical Director of the French Pétanque Federation (FFPJP) will arrive later the following week. Both Bernard and Jean-Yves will conduct pétanque training classes in Lafayette, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Ville Platte, and Erath.
Our local pétanque club is a group of people who share a love of the outdoors, good conversation, and a healthy appetite for fun. We play on a regular monthly schedule, but also whenever the weather is nice and the mood strikes. We are affiliated with Alliance Française de Lafayette, whose mission it is to promote the French language, so we frequently do our socializing in French. We play as a club every first and third Sunday of the month from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the spring and earlier in the fall from 4:00 to 6:00, meeting at the public pétanque courts in Girard Park.
Check our website and facebook page for COVID rules and closures. The courts are located in the northeast corner of the park, across from the rear of the UL Alumni Center. Parking is conveniently located along the one-way street behind the Center. Beginners are most welcome.
